What does Shu Ha Ri stand for?
Shu Ha Ri is the Japanese term for the Cycle of Learning that stands for Follow (Shu), Break (Ha), and Transcend (Ri). Success leaves clues and you need to follow (Shu) these clues in order to achieve success. Then once you know the rules of success, you need to start breaking them (Ha) in order to transcend (Ri) into the person you desire to be and fulfill your potential.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state where a person is relaxed, focused and their critical faculties (conscious mind) are bypassed allowing them to be more open to suggestion. It is a completely natural state that everyone experiences on a daily basis - when you're absorbed in a good book, watching a movie or falling asleep.
What does hypnosis feel like?
It's a lovely relaxed state. You don't go to sleep but your mind and body relax like it does as if you were daydreaming. You're totally aware at all times, able to hear everything and in complete control throughout. Because it's such a natural state, it's not uncommon for people to think they haven't been hypnotised.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a psychotherapy used when a person is in the hypnotic state. There are two main types of hypnotherapy; suggestive and analytical hypnotherapy. Suggestive hypnotherapy is where the hypnotherapist provides positive suggestions while the client is hypnotised. Analytical hypnotherapy is usually a more active form of therapy with client and hypnotherapist interaction. The hypnotherapist may use a variety of techniques to uncover and deal with the root cause of problems.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes. The worse that can happen after a session is that you'll feel relaxed and refreshed. Both the British and American Medical Associations have accepted hypnotherapy and recognise its numerous interventions as a complement to traditional therapies since the 1950's.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes. Provided of course that they want to be hypnotised. You can't force anyone to relax but if you simply follow the hypnotherapist's instructions you will be hypnotised. If you try to resist hypnosis, you will be successful and not be hypnotised.
Is it mind control and will I cluck like a chicken?
No. Ultimately all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The hypnotherapist has no power over you and simply guides you to achieve the hypnotic state by giving you suggestions to follow.
Who benefits from hypnotherapy?
Anyone and everyone who wants to create lasting positive change in their life. Willpower is not enough as more often than not change needs to take place at an unconscious level. Hypnotherapy is a simple and profound way of accessing the unconscious mind and creating new programs for the mind that result in positive change.
How many sessions are usually required?
Because everyone responds differently to hypnotherapy it depends on the client and the goal they're working towards. It's best to discuss with your hypnotherapist your goals upfront to get some idea of how many sessions may be required.
